CAPE has secured an important step forward in our Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) case against the Assessor regarding his unilateral change to Telework.
County management attempted to have CAPE’s Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) against the Assessor dismissed on a technicality, arguing our filing was “untimely.” They hoped to block the case before it was ever heard, which would have silenced your right to challenge the Assessor’s imposed schedule and left members stuck under his unilaterally mandated work plan.
But ERCOM sided with CAPE, rejecting that challenge, and ruled that our case will proceed to a full hearing before an ERCOM judge. This step forward further reinforces that management must be held accountable to fair labor practices and that we deserve a meaningful voice in decisions that affect our work.
What’s’ Next?
We’re inviting Assessor members to join us for a CAPE Zoom Info Session to hear directly from our legal team about the next steps in the case and what this means for you.

This decision is a clear reminder that when we stand together, we make our voices heard, and we make progress possible.
