Candidate’s Statement:

Dear CAPE Members,

I am Sandy Sun, and I have worked at the Assessor’s Office for 22 years. I have been an active CAPE member and some of my activities include:

  • 2022 Current CAPE Contract Negotiator.
  • 2013, 2012, and 2010 CAPE Contract Negotiator.
  • CAPE “Fair Share”/Agency Shop campaign volunteer.
  • 2011 Top Recruiter.

For the last couple of years, I have stood up to our Assessor Management during the Annual Executive Meetings and spoke out and fought for:

  1. Equal opportunity for everyone.
  2. Diversity in the upper management staff.
  3. Filling the enormous number of vacant positions in our office. A lot of positions have been left vacant for up to three years. The Assessor’s office was budgeted for the positions, why aren’t they filled?
  4. Accountability and Transparency.
  5. Other “Unfair Labor Practices”.

Lastly, are you upset that the Assessor removed our “Deputy Assessor” designation without informing Assessor employees, and slipped it into our personnel files without informing us? We are now working out of compliance with the law. That was an unfair labor practice!

I want to fight for all CAPE represented members!! I pledge to listen to you and fight for your rights and benefits in:

  • Public Works
  • Regional Planning
  • Internal Services
  • CEO
  • Parks and Recreations
  • Beaches and Harbors
  • Assessor

Thank you for your time and consideration. I respectfully ask for your VOTE!

In Solidarity,

Sandy Sun
