Candidate’s Statement:

Young but ambitious, I’m currently a Civil Engineering Assistant at Los Angeles County Public Works about to hit my 1-year mark in the Stormwater Engineering Division. Prior to Public Works, I’ve worked in the private industry and academia, but this is my first time being a part of a Union. In short, my experience being in this Union thus far has left a lot to be desired, and I hope to bring to the board my experiences and thoughts on ways that we can improve with the new MOU in this upcoming year. I recognize that many may be hesitant to vote for me given my lack of tenure, however, I ask for only one seat of multiple on the board. Creating a board that reflects the equity that Public Works continues to pursue, my voice would help to represent the many entry-level bargaining classes that, currently, Public Works is now falling behind their competition in hiring for. In addition to speaking for my own bargaining unit (501), I am also looking to increase parental support and associated benefits, another area in which we fall behind our competitors in. Should you still be on the fence about voting for me, or would like my citations, you are more than welcome to personally reach out via my personal email [REDACTED], my work email [REDACTED], or even reach out via Teams. Looking forward to this opportunity, regardless of how it pans out.

Thank you,

Morgan Newcomb, E.I.T., ENV SP
