CAPE members at Public Works turned up and turned out for a powerful rally on July 16 outside L.A. County Public Works Headquarters in Alhambra. Our “Turn Up the Heat” rally was the latest action in our Summer of Solidarity, showing County management that CAPE members are united, energized, and ready to fight for the strong contract we deserve.

With chants echoing down the block and CAPE signs held high, dozens of members gathered on their lunch breaks to make their voices heard. The message was clear: we’re essential, we’re organized, and we expect a contract that reflects the value and impact of our work.

The rally featured powerful remarks from CAPE leaders, worksite representatives, and staff who reminded the crowd that solidarity is our most powerful bargaining tool. Several County departments were represented, with members showing cross-departmental unity in demanding fair wages, better protections, and a contract that supports both current and future County professionals.

This kind of visible, collective action sends a strong message – not only to County management, but also to the broader community: CAPE members keep Los Angeles County running, and we deserve respect at the bargaining table.
