CAPE Board of Directors Information: A nine-member Board of Directors makes the vast majority of decisions for your union, including policy formulation and authorization of all financial transactions. The Board is made up entirely of full dues-paying CAPE members who are elected by the membership of CAPE. They are County employees, just like you, who volunteer their time to chart the course of the union.

Any full dues-paying active CAPE member in good standing can run for a position on the Board of Directors. Board Members typically serve a two-year term. There are no term limits and individuals can continue to serve on the Board as long as the members continue to elect them. Board elections take place in August every year. The Board elections are “at large,” which means the top five (or four depending on the election year) vote getters will serve on the Board.

The CAPE Board of Directors meets regularly on the second Thursday of every month. Meetings of the Board of Directors take place at the CAPE office and begin at 2 p.m. CAPE members are welcome to attend the Board meetings. Copies of the agenda and approved minutes for the Board of Directors meetings are available to members upon request.

CAPE is run by its own members who are elected by the membership. This helps to ensure a union that is dedicated to enhancing the careers of members and being responsive to members’ concerns.
