CAPE Announces Contract Ratification RE-VOTE of Tentative Agreements in all Bargaining Units

Due to a mistake in the initial balloting, CAPE is conducting a Contract Ratification RE-VOTE in all L.A. County CAPE Bargaining Units to ensure the integrity of the voting process. As such, we ask all CAPE members to please disregard the previously mailed voting materials. We also apologize for any inconvenience to those who already voted.

"Unfortunately our mailing vendor made an honest mistake that could have compromised the voting results in some Bargaining Units," said CAPE President, Carlos Clayton. "Our Board of Directors authorized this RE-VOTE to ensure all CAPE members' proper votes will be tallied."

The RE-VOTE ballot packages will be mailed to all CAPE members during the week of December 21st, possibly sooner. If you do not receive your RE-VOTE materials by December 30th, please contact our office at (626) 243-0340 so we can request an expedited replacement ballot package for you from the election vendor. Ballots for the RE-VOTE are due back to the Election P.O. Box no later than Monday, January 11, 2016.

Concurrent with the RE-VOTE, CAPE representatives continue to work diligently with County management to finalize the new contract language in all Bargaining Units for subsequent approval by the Board of Supervisors. The process to write, review, and reach agreement with the County on the new contract language to ensure each accurately reflects the negotiated agreements is always time consuming. Therefore, this RE-VOTE will NOT delay implementation of your first pay raise installment of 3% retroactive to October 1, 2015.

CAPE's Negotiating Teams achieved several important gains this bargaining cycle including a new 10% pay increase package for all CAPE-represented employees to be paid within 2 years and 6 months of the effective date. Additional details of the Tentative Agreement for your Bargaining Unit contract will be included with your vote materials. Please be sure to read your vote materials carefully, mark your ballot, and return it in the envelope provided to ensure your voice is heard.

Please note this Contract Ratification RE-VOTE is being done at no additional cost to the Union.
