While our 2025 CAPE Bargaining Team is working hard to secure a strong new contract for our wages and working conditions, the Coalition of County Unions (CCU)—which includes CAPE and 14 other County unions—negotiates our separate Fringe Benefits Contract.
Below is the latest bargaining update on our Fringe Benefits Contract negotiations:
Following a pause due to the tragic fires that have ravaged the County, negotiations between Los Angeles County and the Coalition of County Unions resumed today last week. Our existing agreement expires March 30, 2025.
The Coalition of County Unions represents more than a score of unions that represent in excess 35,000 County union workers that span all aspect of County operations. The “Fringe” Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlines benefits that are negotiated for this large and diverse County unionized workforce.
At our last bargaining session, our Coalition presented the County proposals on ground rules for these negotiations. Our Coalition also presented the County with a set of proposals on articles in the contract.
The County responded to the ground rules and sought clarification on some of our Coalition proposals.
The next bargaining session is scheduled for this week. We'll continue to keep you updated.
