Contract Update: Final Sessions Begin

What’s happening at the bargaining table and our new contract?

Over the past several months, our CAPE Bargaining Team has remained firm and focused on protecting members – not just for this contract, but for the long term.

One of the most serious issues we’ve been working to resolve is the County’s proposal that would give management the ability to unilaterally claw back negotiated raises under certain circumstances. From day one, we have made it clear: that is unacceptable.

We believe we now see a potential pathway to address that proposed unilateral authority. While nothing is final until it is signed and ratified, this is meaningful movement and a direct result of the strength and resolve of our bargaining team and every members’ solidarity.

Final Bargaining Sessions Resume

Final bargaining sessions with the County are scheduled to begin this Monday, March 2. Our goal is straightforward: reach a fair agreement as soon as possible, without ever short-changing our members. We will not rush into a deal that fails to protect the professionals who keep L.A. County running.

We know negotiations have felt long. We know uncertainty is frustrating. But please know this: our CAPE Bargaining Team is engaged, united, and pushing hard to secure the strongest contract possible.

Wear CAPE Swag Next Week to Show Your Support

As final sessions begin, we’re asking members who report in person to wear CAPE shirts, lanyards, pins, or any CAPE swag throughout the week. A visible show of solidarity sends a powerful message: we’re engaged, united, and paying attention.

Let’s bring this contract home.
