CAPE Members Rally for Real Solutions

On April 2, nearly 300 CAPE members rallied at two locations across Los Angeles County—outside the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration and the Public Works Braun Building—to stand up against cuts to vital public services and call on County management to work with frontline employees to find real long-term solutions.

The rallies marked a powerful moment in our ongoing contract fight. For months, our CAPE Bargaining Team has proposed common-sense, cost-saving solutions to help the County save money while ensuring we can recruit, retain, and support the skilled professionals who keep L.A. County running. But instead of working with us, County management has prioritized short-sighted cuts that would weaken vital services our communities depend on—all while refusing to present a single economic offer at the bargaining table.

By rallying together, CAPE members made it clear: we will not be scapegoated. We are the Disaster Service Workers who show up during wildfires, floods, and pandemics—we have a plan to protect services and save money. Work with us, not against us

What’s next? Our member-driven petition is now live. CAPE Delegates will be circulating it both in person and online to call on the Board of Supervisors to direct the CEO to stop the cuts and start collaborating with workers on real, long-term solutions.

Add your voice. Stay engaged. Let’s win a contract that protects services, respects workers, and builds a stronger future for all L.A. County residents.
