CAPE Bargaining Update: Progress Through Unity

We’re in the middle of one of the toughest County contract negotiations in decades, but our solidarity is making a real impact.

Last week, all three CAPE bargaining units met with County management. Together, we secured tentative agreements on five more articles – steady progress, though many key priorities are still on the table.

The County continues to point to their massive financial challenges, but we know that protections like stronger Telework policies don’t cost a dime. In fact, these financial challenges are exactly why we need a strong CAPE contract that protects our members and safeguards the work we do.

Across worksites, CAPE members are stepping up, new leaders are emerging, and our unity is being felt at the bargaining table. That solidarity is our strength, and the County knows it.

Bargaining resumes at the end of October, and we’ve called on the County to come back with real proposals that move us closer to the contract we deserve. Until then, every action we take – whether it’s wearing CAPE blue, joining a Unity Break, or talking with coworkers – helps keep us strong.
