Candidate’s Statement:

Every. Penny. Matters. My mom was only eighteen years old when I was born. She fled the civil war in Lebanon in the early 1980’s in search of safety, security, and opportunity for her two young boys. As a single mother in her early twenties, in a new and unfamiliar country, at times she worked three jobs to make ends meet; at times we were on government assistance just to survive. I started working to help pay bills before I was fourteen. I know many of you come from similar circumstances; you understand the struggle of having to stretch dollars and the frustrations of working so hard yet earning so little. You can be sure that I will fight for every penny, to make sure our contributions as employees are respected, appreciated, and valued.

I have served as a CAPE Delegate for three years and was appointed as a Trustee for the CAPE Benefits Trust last year. I’ve volunteered my time and efforts because I believe I can help improve the lives of our members. As County employees, CAPE is the vehicle by which we can fight for ourselves and our families. In order to maximize our strength and leverage, however, we must make significant improvements in Transparency, Organization, Representation, and Communication. I am willing to help lead that effort if you are willing to support me. I humbly ask for your vote so that, together, we can make this Union work harder and better for ALL of its members.
