LACERA Board Election Update: CAPE Endorses Herman Santos for the Board of Investments and Vivian Gray for the Board of Retirement!

Public employee pension benefits are under serious political attack. One critical way that Los Angeles County employees can help protect our well-earned, secure retirement benefits is by electing LACERA Board representatives who will fight for us; Herman Santos and Vivian Gray.

Herman Santos for Board of Investments:

Herman Santos, as the incumbent, began his service on the LACERA Board of Investments in 2004 and he has been reelected several times. Herman is currently an attorney with the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office. He is also a former Business Agent and Attorney for SEIU, and remains an active member of SEIU Local 721. As a LACERA Board member, Herman Santos plays an influential role in the fight to protect our defined benefit pensions. He has also done an admirable job working to produce and protect the promised benefits for L.A. County employees. We can count on Herman Santos to fight the special interests trying to undermine our pension system.

Vivian Gray for Board of Retirement:

Vivian Gray has been a Los Angeles County employee for 28 years; first as a Deputy Sheriff and currently as an attorney for The Office of the Alternate Public Defender. Vivian has promised, if elected, to fight to maintain our defined benefit pension system, help ensure access to the best healthcare program available for retirees, and improve the decision time on disability retirement applications. She has also vowed to fight the attacks by the media and special interests who promote the idea that public employee pensions are the cause of government budget deficits.

The CAPE Board of Directors strongly recommends your vote for Herman Santos and Vivian Gray for the LACERA Boards.

LACERA Election ballots were mailed by the Registrar Recorder / County Clerk's office last week, and are due back no later than July 31st. Please follow the voting instructions carefully and return your ballot right away.
