After more than a year of bargaining, the Coalition of County Unions (CCU) has reached a Tentative Agreement (T/A) with the County of Los Angeles on a successor Fringe Benefit Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This round of negotiations was particularly challenging because of the County’s mandate to lessen liability associated with the Flores v. City of San Gabriel, (9th Cir. 2016) case, specifically by reducing the cash back members received from the Choices plan.

The California Association of Professional Employees (CAPE) has reached a tentative agreement with Los Angeles County on contracts covering Appraisers and Supervisory Appraisers in bargaining units 131 and 132.

The tentative agreement was agreed upon during a mediation session held at the CAPE offices on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

This free three-day workshop is for union members who want to learn how to better serve the union and its membership.

The institute takes place May 3rd to May 5th, Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor.

The interactive curriculum and workshops will cover:

CAPE Members: Join Labor’s “Homeless Heroes” Team May 18 for HomeWalk 5K 2019!

On Saturday, May 18th, CAPE will join unions from across the region as labor takes the lead and walks (or runs) to end homelessness in United Way of Greater Los Angeles’ 2019 HomeWalk 5k run/walk.

CAPE is a supporter of the Labor team of Union Sisters and Brothers called the “Homeless Heroes.” Labor is the only team dedicated to raise funds to help homeless veterans into permanent housing during HomeWalk.

Last week, the Negotiating Teams for Units 501 and 502 (Professional Engineers & Supervising Professional Engineers) and Units 511 and 512 (Engineering Technicians and Supervising Engineering Technicians) met with a state mediator in an attempt to settled its impasse with the County of Los Angeles.
